Pretty Feet on Vacation: The Soft-Life Foot Care Routine I’m Taking to Jamaica
There is a very specific kind of confidence that comes from stepping onto vacation with your toes done, your favorite anklet packed and absolutely nowhere important to be for the next few days.
But pretty vacation feet require a little more than a fresh pedicure.
Next week, I’m heading to Jamaica, which means my feet are about to experience airports, sandals, resort floors, pool decks, beach sand, excursions and plenty of walking. So while I’m thinking about swimsuits and what jewelry I want to photograph, I’m also preparing my feet for the trip.
That is part of the soft life too.
Taking care of the body that’s carrying you into the life you’ve been working for.

Before the Flight: Start With Healthy Feet
My vacation foot-care routine starts before I ever get to the airport.
I want moisturized heels, neatly groomed nails and comfortable feet—not a last-minute aggressive pedicure that leaves my skin irritated right before traveling.
Im going to get a pedicure the day before my flight. I’m going to do a French manicure and pedicure. Whenever I travel, I always wear tennis shoes or UGGs. I personally do not like to wear sandals in the airport even though you can pass through TSA with your shoes on now. My toes and my feet are precious and I really just like to have them protected while I travel.
The American Podiatric Medical Association recommends sensible foot care while traveling, including moisturizing, stretching the feet and ankles, wearing supportive shoes for long periods on your feet and elevating your legs when prolonged sitting contributes to swelling. (APMA)
So my pre-vacation plan is simple:
Pack socks, no matter what.
Fresh pedicure.
Comfortable travel shoes.
Moisturize heavily.
Nothing complicated.
Pool Decks Are Not the Place to Be Barefoot
I love barefoot pictures.
That does not mean I walk barefoot anywhere. 😂
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends wearing flip-flops, shower shoes or sandals around pools, shared showers, gyms and similar moist public spaces because the fungus responsible for athlete’s foot can be present on those surfaces. Dermatologists also recommend washing feet daily and drying thoroughly, particularly between the toes. (American Academy of Dermatology)
So yes, the sandals are going into the suitcase. Several pair. 😬😊
The cute barefoot content can happen somewhere intentional.
Don’t Forget Sunscreen on Your Feet!!
This is one of those tiny things that’s surprisingly easy to forget.
Your feet can sunburn too.
The American Podiatric Medical Association specifically recommends sunscreen on the feet—especially the tops of the feet and fronts of the ankles—and reapplication after being in the water. (APMA)
The American Academy of Dermatology similarly recommends broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher on exposed skin when wearing sandals, flip-flops or going barefoot. (American Academy of Dermatology)
That means sunscreen isn’t stopping at my ankles in Jamaica.
Pack Shoes for What You’re Actually Doing
A resort sandal is not an ATV shoe.
A cute flip-flop is not necessarily a six-hour excursion shoe.
And the shoes I wear to dinner aren’t the shoes I’m wearing through the airport.
APMA advises travelers to consider the footwear required for each activity and notes that wet shoes should be allowed to dry completely before wearing them again. (APMA)
That little bit of planning can be the difference between enjoying an excursion and spending the second half of it thinking about your feet.
Then Comes the Fun Part: Foot Jewelry
Once the practical stuff is handled?
Now we decorate. ✨
Vacation is one of my favorite times for toe rings and anklets because you’re already showing more of your feet.
A simple swimsuit suddenly feels styled.
Sandals look more intentional.
A fresh pedicure gets a little personality.
And a custom anklet becomes one of those tiny details that makes an otherwise simple vacation outfit feel like you.
If you’ve been waiting to add one to your jewelry collection, you can currently Buy One Custom Anklet and Get One Free with code CUSTOMZ through PFTrinkets Custom Anklets.
One for vacation.
One for when you get home. 😉
What’s Actually Going in My Foot-Care Bag
I’m keeping mine practical:
Moisturizer, sunscreen, flip-flops, comfortable walking shoes, blister protection, basic nail-care essentials and whatever foot jewelry I plan to photograph.

Stay 10 Toes Down—even somewhere beautiful
The point of creating a softer life isn’t to become careless.
For me, softness works better when there is preparation underneath it.
Take care of your feet before the trip.
Pack what you actually need.
Protect your skin.
Wear the right shoes.
Then put on the toe rings, walk down to the beach and enjoy the life you worked hard enough to experience.
That’s Stay 10 Toes Down in real life.
Grounded enough to handle your responsibilities.
Soft enough to enjoy what they make possible.
✨ Today’s Trinket Treat: Soft Life Vision Board
And before we go anywhere, we have to be able to picture where we’re going.
The PFTrinkets Soft Life Vision Board has quietly become one of the products women keep choosing from the shop.
Maybe because sometimes the first step isn’t another hustle.
Sometimes it’s sitting down long enough to decide:
What do I actually want my life to look like?
Print it.
Build it.
And stay 10 toes down while you’re getting there. 🦶🏽✨
